Really thought-provoking perspective. As our understanding of the microbiome expands, it’s reasonable to investigate how environmental exposures, including herbicides, diet, and other chemicals, may influence microbial communities and, ultimately, human health. At the same time, we need to remind ourselves that while laboratory and animal studies have generated important hypotheses about glyphosate and the microbiome, translating those findings to meaningful health effects in humans is challenging. Factors such as exposure levels, dietary patterns, genetics, and the complexity of the gut ecosystem all influence outcomes, making it essential to interpret individual studies within the broader body of evidence. Perhaps one of the most exciting developments in modern medicine is recognizing that our health is shaped not only by our own cells, but also by our interactions with the environment and the trillions of microorganisms that inhabit our bodies. Continuing to investigate these relationships with scientific rigor will help us better understand both potential risks and opportunities for disease prevention. Thanks for sharing this insightful overview.

This is the basis for a book, Martha! Well done. I'm going to read it through again. Let's talk.

Great article which needs to be spread far and wide. Thankyou.

The first aspect of glyphosate mentioned is the antimicrobial nature, which it shares with Fluoride, in compromising the gut biome of the mother to start with.

Another aspect is the chelation of cations and in Shikimate and glycolysis Mg and Mn are essential. It raises the question of how many and which microorganisms require minerals; working in soil and plant nutrition this factor is vital for remedial measures.

Working in the field of fluoride I have a complaint in the evidence provided by the Royal Society of NZ which ignores all the research you mention here., saying there are no adverse effects of fluoride. Their report to government is the basis for public health policies in this country that impact greatly on children from before conception.

The potentiation between glyphosate and fluoride needs to be brought into the argument and emphasised since both are gross contaminants in the whole food chain. Glyphosate use has increased immensely in the last decade due to the preharvest desiccation of food crops; and fluoride in fertilizer (at 50kgs /tonne of phosphate fertilizer) and in water used in preparing infant formula with fluoridate water with the heavy metals included.

The way both work is to compromise the most fundamental systems on the planet which have supported life on this planet for billions of years from photosynthesis to glycolysis, Krebs cycle and all you discuss here.

The covid shot also wiped out bifidobacteria in the gut. I wonder how many other vaccines also wipe out important gut bacteria?
